The 8 Hour Dream Endurance Race was last weekend. I have been wanting to blog about my experiences all week, but have not had the time to sit and write.
First of all…WE WON. Yep. That’s right. 3 of us, all female on my team. We ran about 55 miles in 8 hours, never stopping. I ran 17.5 myself, a personal record.
It was 95 degrees outside and the heat index was 110. It was so hot, just breathing outside was difficult, let alone running in the sun, all day. The race began at 2pm, ending at 10, just so we could run during the hottest part of the day. I heard comments from another team who was calling it the 8 hour Nightmare Race.
This is us, right after we won. Sarah was the last runner on our team, so she had just come in. Danielle and I had time to change shoes and clothes real quick before she zoomed in for our last 1.85 miles that put us on top.
We were on a total high for the week. Even last night, the 3 of us got together to celebrate a bit, and we had to make sure everyone at the party knew we were winners.
Next post, I’ll share with you what worked, what we needed, how we planned, and what we would change for the next 8 hour race. Because, you better know, we are totally going to win it again next year:)
