I took the kids to Spencer Farm in Noblesville, IN earlier this week. This is our second year strawberry picking. I believe it may become an after-schools-out-for-summer tradition for us. First, the kids grab their own cardboard box, and then they meet the farmer in the field. Next, the farmer then tells the kids where to start, and the kids go crazy picking. During the picking, I am pretty sure my kids eat a few berries here and there. Guess the farmer should not only weigh the kids boxes when they are finished, they should also weigh my kids before and after to see how much they have eaten!
Spencer Farm has a cute little shop as well. They have local honey, homemade applesauce, homemade canned veggies, pickled beets, and an ice cream shop. Of course after all of our harvesting of the berries, the kids are super excited for ice cream, and I like to pick up something from the shop.
Nothing says summer like a bowl (or two or three) of fresh strawberries!
